The 2013 graduates of the University of Hartford’s acoustics program had a perfect placement record – they all got jobs in their field or were accepted to graduate programs before Commencement in May.

The students either earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in acoustics, or a Bachelor of Science in Engineering—Acoustical Engineering and Music. The acoustics program is based in the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture (CETA) and is directed by Professor of Mechanical Engineering Robert Celmer '78.

Members of the Class of 2013 have gone to work for highly regarded acoustics firms and have been accepted to prestigious graduate programs.

This year’s acoustics graduates include Miles Aron '13, who won the John G. Martin Scholarship to study at Oxford University as well as a Fulbright award to study in Switzerland; Peter Bowers '13, who won the University’s John G. Lee Medal and has been accepted to the Harvard/MIT Program in Speech and Hearing Bioscience and Technology; and Rutger Strauss '13, who delivered the student address at Commencement.

The Class of 2013 also includes Tiffany Stahura '13 and Rachel Parlock '13, who recently won the highly selective Leo Beranek Student Medal for Excellence in the Study of Noise Control.
