The Mandel JCC Hartford Jewish Film Festival is proud to present the documentary, Brave Miss World.
At age 18, Israeli beauty queen Linor Abargil survived a horrific knife-point rape and abduction in Italy days before being crowned Miss World in 1998. This unflinching new documentary chronicles Abargil’s personal quest for justice and her healing journey while refusing to be ashamed. Overnight, the former model became the face of rape, and 10 years after the attack, a globe-trotting survivor activist, lawyer and mother.
The film will be shown on Thursday, March 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Wilde Auditorium. There will be a post-film discussion with Women for Change following the screening of the film.
This is one of several campus screenings of Brave Miss World at colleges and universities around the state. The University of Hartford screening is free and open to students, faculty, and staff.
This event is co-sponsored by the President's Office, Hartford Hillel, Women for Change, the Maurice Greenberg Center for Judaic Studies, and the Hartford Jewish Film Festival.
