Murray Tinkelman, director of the Low Residency MFA in lllustration program at the  Hartford Art School, is having an exhibition of his illustrations at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Mass. Baseball, Rodeos and Automobiles: The Art of Murray Tinkelman is part of the museum's Distinguished Illustrator Series.

Tinkelman was profiled in a story on the front page of the Hartford Courant's "Entertainment" section on Friday, April 18.

Tinkelman has been a professional illustrator for almost 60 years, creating images to please a wide variety of clients and doing drawings of his own ideas for fun on the side. But as the years have gone by, his priorities have shifted. "For years and years as a freelance artist, I worried when the phone didn't ring," Tinkelman told the Courant during a walk-through of his exhibit. "Then I started getting nervous when the phone did ring. I wanted to do my own thing."
