Ronald LaComb, business manager for the Barney School of Business, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 20, after a long-term illness.

LaComb was a graduate of Clarkson University, and he earned an MBA from the Barney School of Business in 1997. He began his career at the Barney School as a graduate assistant while pursuing his degree. Upon graduation, he was hired part-time and then moved into a full-time position. LaComb served first as a Budget Assistant and then he was promoted to Operations Manager and Budget Assistant in 2002. He was again promoted to Business Manager in 2008.

Among his many distinctive accomplishments at the Barney School were the design of Mali 1 and Mali 2 Auditoriums, the Mali Global Center, his noteworthy work in creating the state-of-the-art Global Broadcast Center and his invaluable support in the design of a host of signature events such as the Beta Gamma Sigma Induction ceremony, the Veru Symposium, the International Business Plan Competition, the international ACARA competition and a world-wide Hydrogen Fuel Cell Symposium.

"Ron was the heart and soul of the Barney School of Business," said Barney Dean James Fairfield-Sonn. "He would do absolutely anything to move the Barney School forward. His love for the school was unsurpassed.

"He was a visionary and he made things happen," Fairfield-Sonn added. "He will be sorely missed but never forgotten."

In accordance with LaComb's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
