The mission of the Department of Nursing is to advance the level of education of practicing registered nurses, preparing them for leadership roles in a changing healthcare system.  Grounded in an experiential and collaborative learning environment, the department’s curriculum fosters “excellence through relevance” by promoting evidence-based nursing that ensures individual and community well-being. Our emphasis on the intersection of theory and practice in interdisciplinary health care reflects the University of Hartford’s commitment as a “private university with a public purpose.”  Service learning, community involvement and principles of social justice are hallmarks of the curriculum.
