She acts as liaison between the University faculty and staff, Educational Main Street, and the partner schools. She also works closely with the central office administration and school principals as well as leaders of community groups. She writes Partners, the Educational Main Street newsletter and the student training materials as well as oversees other Educational Main Street publications. Tutor Coordinators

University of Hartford students assist Educational Main Street staff as Tutor Coordinators. These students have risen among their peers as tutors and managers of tutors, and have gained the respect of their peers as well as the administrators and teachers at the schools where they work. Coordinators work with both the student population at the University and the teachers at the partner schools. They have contact with faculty and staff in promoting Educational Main Street on campus. The tutor coordinators report to a Head Tutor Coordinator, whose work includes scheduling hours, writing and editing Tutor Talk articles, and organizing tutor events.

Mentors/Tutors

Over 450 University of Hartford undergraduate and graduate students work one-on-one in the partner schools. They receive training in child development, diversity, and literacy.
