Tutor Volunteers

You might think that you have to be an education major to participate in Educational Main Street.  That is not the case.  Students from across campus in all majors are welcome to take part.  You may tutor individual students or become a classroom assistant in any of our partner schools in Hartford and Bloomfield.

Tutors are generally volunteers.  Sometimes, however, you will have a course instructor who encourages you to take advantage of this experience as part of the required coursework. "Our tutors remark over and over again how much their service learning experience at the partner schools has supported their understanding of their course work and how it was an important and rewarding part of their college experience," said EMS Director Mary Christensen.

School children will benefit from your attention and you, in turn, will learn from teaching them.  Add "EMS Tutor" to your academic resume!
