Policy Leadership and Advocacy

Women with Disabilities: Leading the Way to Quality Health Care - This series of public policy activities aims to identify and address gaps in access to and the quality of health and mental health services for women with disabilities. The work advances meaningful connections and contacts among a variety of organizations, groups, and individuals. The intended outcomes are (a) elastic advocacy networks that build capacity to leverage personal and organizational resources, (b) make network members stronger and better able to serve their constituencies, and (c) use the power of individual action to ensure equal access to quality health care for women with disabilities. more

Policy Roundtable: Public Act No. 12-40: An Act Concerning College Readiness and Completion - In 2012, Connecticut enacted a policy where “no public institution of higher education shall offer any remedial support, including remedial courses, that is not embedded [in a] corresponding entry level course” (State of Connecticut, Public Act No. 12-40, p. 2).The policy roundtable held July 25, 2013 at the University of Hartford brought together higher education leaders, policymakers, practitioners, faculty, researchers, and community-based organizations for a discussion on the likely effects of this policy.  more
