Blizzard conditions are now impacting our region and a Connecticut statewide travel ban is in effect. The University will be closed today, Tuesday, Jan. 27.  Day and evening classes are canceled. An updated advisory on the status of classes and operations for tomorrow will be posted this evening. During the time that the University is closed, the Commons, Subway, and Village Market will maintain regular hours for residential dining services and the Sports Center will be open for use by residential students only. 2011 VNA HealthCare Scholarship Recipients

VNA HealthCare Inc. awarded ten scholarships to area nursing students as part of its Nightingale Awards for Excellence in Nursing gala. University of Hartford recipients were Susan Oliveira and Chiquana Allman.

They accepted their scholarships from Ellen Rothberg, President and CEO of VNA HealthCare at a breakfast held March 31. VNA HealthCare awarded $500 each to the deserving students who were nominated by their schools to encourage and support careers in nursing. VNA HealthCare has awarded over $48,500 in scholarships since the Nightingale program began in 2003.

The Nightingale Awards event is a recognition program to be held for the ninth time this year in Hartford. Representing more than 30 health care institutions, 102 nurses will be honored at a dinner for 500 to be held on May 5, 2011
