The Anchor Award, the most prestigious award presented by the University of Hartford Alumni Association, recognizes alumni who have reached the highest level of professional accomplishment and possess absolute standards of integrity and character that positively reflect and enhance the prestige of the University of Hartford.
The University honored nine exceptional alumni with Anchor Awards during this year’s Hawktober Weekend celebrations on Oct. 22, 2011. Among them was Cheryl Resha. Resha earned both a Master’s Degree in Nursing ’96 and a Doctorate of Education ’06 from ENHP.
Resha is the manager of the Bureau of Health/Nutrition, Family Services and Adult Education at the Connecticut State Department of Education. In her role, Resha serves to provide leadership and fiscal oversight for the U.S. Department of Agriculture child nutrition programs, school health and school nursing services, health and physical education, family engagement, extended learning programs, adult education, and other related programs that support student learning.
In her spare time, Resha is active on the national level promoting high quality school health services. She has held the positions of President and Treasurer for the National Association of State School Nurse Consultants (NASSNC). She has also served as the National Association of School Nurses’ representative on the American Nurses Association, Congress of Nursing Practice and Economics.
Additionally, Resha enjoys her role as adjunct professor at the University of Hartford where she teaches "Scholarly Inquiry" to MSN students in the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions.
