ENHP Faculty Members Receive Coffin Grants and Summer Stipends

Four of the thirteen grant recipients who have been awarded Vincent B. Coffin Grants and Summer Stipends for 2014-15 are members of ENHP. The grants and stipends are awarded to full-time faculty for a variety of scholarly and creative projects and for activities that enhance teaching or contribute to professional development.

Vincent B. Coffin Grant Recipients

Barbara Crane

Barbara Crane, associate professor of physical therapy in the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions (ENHP), will study the effect of sitting on a mechanical transfer lift sling in a wheelchair to measure pressure between the body and the seat surface with the goal of alleviating the development of pressure ulcers.

Paul Higgins

Paul Higgins, assistant professor of physical therapy in ENHP, will study whether  adding electrical stimulation to a lower-extremity strengthening program will improve lower-extremity function.

Diana Veneri

Diana Veneri, associate professor of physical therapy in ENHP, will develop a DVD for volunteer physical therapists licensed in the U.S. and Canada to provide prosthetic training across borders.

Summer Stipend Recipient

Adam Goodworth

Adam Goodworth, assistant professor of physical therapy in ENHP, will craft prosthetic education tools for clinics and patients in developing countries.
