 Approximately 20-25 full-time students are admitted to the Psy.D. program each year. A completed application for consideration for admission consists of the following information:
Application Materials
1. Official transcripts of all previous course work showing:
- Concentration in psychology, including courses in abnormal psychology,
personality, social psychology, developmental psychology, statistics, and research methods, tests and measurements, and experimental psychology.
- Degrees received. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education is required.
2. Official scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General test section (Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytic) and the Graduate Record Examination Subject test in Psychology, taken within the past five years. An application will not be considered without GRE scores, and test scores must be submitted by the application deadline.
Preference will be given to applicants whose grades and GRE scores exceed the following:
- Overall grade point average of 3.0
- Psychology grade point average of 3.25
- GRE Verbal score of 550
- GRE Quantitative score of 550
- GRE Psychology score of 550
- GRE Analytic score of 550 or 4.5
3. TOEFL scores, if applicable.
4. A CV or résumé summarizing the applicant's credentials.
5. A statement of the applicant's professional goals and academic
objectives.
6. A personal statement describing life experiences that have helped shape the applicant's personality.
7. At least three letters of reference, preferably written by psychologists, evaluating the applicant's academic performance, clinical or field experience, and research experience.
Personal Interview
Admission to the program also requires a personal interview. After review of applicants' completed application forms, roughly 90 candidates are invited to attend a four-hour process that involves both group and individual interviews. These interview sessions are held in February and early March. Applicants are notified of the Admissions Committee decision on or about April 1.
