Movement Studio 1

This dance studio will have two mirror walls with ballet bars on the north and east walls along with large windows to let in natural light on the west and south walls. The west and south walls will feature opaque glass on the lower portions to still let light in but to offer privacy to the students. It will also feature a Gerstung Air Base sub floor with resilent Harlequin vinyl dance floor finish.

The southeast corner of the Center will house a bank and coffee and food service with an open floor plan. The area facing Albany Avenue is community space that is available for meetings and other gatherings.

Main Entrance

In recognition of a $610,000 grant from MassMutual Financial Group, the main entrance located off Westbourne Parkway will be named the MassMutual Gallery. This main passageway runs east to west with dance and movement studios three and four on the left and the two black box theatres on the right.

This features portable stadium seating for 57. The flooring for this room will be an Anchor flex sub floor with a masonite hardboard finish that will be painted with a theatrical floor finish.

The main entrance to the Center is located on Westbourne Parkway where there will be 199 parking spaces. New, double pane thermal windows have been installed on the parkway side of the building to allow natural daylight in while controlling the temperature and environment. The masonry walls that show above the roof line are the black box theaters which need high ceilings to accommodate lighting and audio requirements.

Performance Studio

This is a “black box” theater with a portable stage and portable stadium seating for 184 people. This studio will also feature a state of the art performance audio system along with performance lighting. The flooring for this room will be an Anchor flex sub floor with a masonite hardboard finish painted with a theatrical floor finish.

The east side of this room features exposed brick to show off the history of the building. All five movement studios feature firm, cushion foam backed, slip-resistant, bactericidal floors to give dancers confidence for demanding choreography and movement, reduce injuries and cut down on noise.

In addition to high quality flooring, all five dance studios will have double door frames, double-framed walls and acoustical treatments so sound will be kept isolated within the individual rooms and not bleed out.
