Cat Balco has shown her paintings, murals, and collaborative projects widely; recent venues include Real Art Ways (Hartford, Conn.) Artspace (New Haven, Conn.), The Painting Center (New York, NY), and the University Gallery (Sacramento, Calif.). She has served as a visiting artist at the Maine College of Art, Swarthmore College, Pratt Institute at the Munson Williams Proctor School of Art, and Yale University, where she is an associate fellow. Balco has received residencies and awards from the Connecticut Commission on the Arts, the Weir Farm Trust, and the Albers Foundation. In addition, she has been the recipient of several University of Hartford awards related to her teaching, including an Engaged Learning Fellowship, the Belle K. Ribicoff Junior Faculty Award, and the 2012 Innovations in Teaching Award. Balco received a BA and an MFA from Yale University and is an associate professor of painting and drawing at the University of Hartford. Currently she is serving as the fine arts chair.
