Hartford Art School offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History. Art history gives working artists the background needed to meet the standards established by great artists of the past and to understand why and how to set new ones. Students of art history are multiply skilled and employers benefit from their versatility. Graduates in the Art History major go on to become museum curators and directors, gallerists, critics, editors, and, of course, teachers. The world of galleries and museums has exploded in the past two decades, opening many new possibilities for work for students with art historical training. It is possible to complete a B.A. in Art History, or to add a Subject Area Major in Art History to a B.F.A. degree.
