Artist John Bielenberg to Talk about “When Wrong is Right” in Hartford Art School’s Auerbach Lecture Series

Artist John Bielenberg, a co-founder of FUTURE, the San Francisco-based rapid innovation firm that takes a radical humanitarian approach to accelerating positive change, will present a lecture entitled, “When Wrong Is Right.” His talk, on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 2:30 p.m. in the University of Hartford’s Wilde Auditorium, is part of the Hartford Art School’s Auerbach Lecture Series. This event is free and open to the public.

Hartford Art School to Hold an Alumni Forum to “Challenge the Myth of the Starving Artist”

The Hartford Art School will hold a two-part series of alumni forums, open to the public, with the over-arching theme, “Challenging the Myth of the Starving Artist,” to explore the various ways in which alumni have used their training and skills to make their way in the world and achieve success. The first of these forums will take place on Friday, Nov. 9, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Wilde Auditorium at the University of Hartford, and will be followed by a reception.

Hartford Art School to Host 2012 “National Portfolio Day” for High School Students

About 1,000 high school juniors and seniors from around the Northeast will be coming to the University of Hartford’s Hartford Art School for National Portfolio Day on Saturday, Nov. 3, a day full of visual excitement, high emotions and exciting opportunities. Prospective art school students will bring their portfolios to be reviewed and critiqued by some of the 50 art schools and their representatives in attendance.

Hartford Art School’s 2012 Faculty Exhibition Opens at Joseloff Gallery

An incredibly diverse array of artistic mediums and styles will be on display at the 2012 Hartford Art School Faculty Exhibition at the Hartford Art School’s Joseloff Gallery at the University of Hartford campus. The exhibit will open with a public reception onTuesday, Oct. 30, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., and the exhibition will run through Dec. 16.

Catharine “Cat” Balco of Hamden Receives Innovation in Teaching and Learning Award at University of Hartford’s Annual Faculty/Staff Kickoff

Catharine “Cat” Balco of Hamden, an assistant professor of painting in the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford, was honored with an Innovation in Teaching and Learning Award at the University’s annual Faculty/Staff Kickoff on Wednesday Aug 29. The award honors faculty members who have shown exceptional dedication, innovation, and effectiveness in their teaching, as well as extensive interaction with students.
