Parking Advisory

With forecast heavy rains for Saturday and the potential for both river and flash flooding, students are asked to avoid parking in low-lying areas of parking lots C, D, E (along the tree line), F (eastern most entrance by the pond), and N-Annex. Cars should now be on higher ground within these lots or in Lot F (by Konover Campus Center). Vehicles should be returned to their assigned parking lots by 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.

B.F.A., Experimental Studio Art, 1991

I came to HAS from England because of their unique, multidisciplinary Experimental Studio Art degree. I learned to think outside the box and about art as a tool for social change. After graduating in 1991 I returned to England and worked for an importer using my metal and woodworking skills to repair damaged antiques. In my spare time I used their equipment to make sculptures.

By 1999 I’d set up a forge to fulfill my first public art commission; a series of animal sculptures in steel. I’d also established a company making models for designers, architects and TV. Within a few years I was a prop & model maker on Hollywood movies such as Blackhawk Down & Casino Royale. I also learned life casting to make SFX body parts.

In 2006 I won a big life casting commission for a visitor attraction. I took a leap of faith to leave film and set up Brighton Body Casting, the UK’s most successful life casting sculpture business. We create figurative sculptures in bronze and fibreglass for private clients in the USA and Europe. My personal sculpture and photographic work also focuses on the body but with a career-long commitment to experimentation. My world famous sculpture, The Great Wall of Vagina, is championed as a feminist masterpiece and was my first museum exhibit.

I exhibit and lecture often, including at Yale and Trinity College Dublin. I feature in several books, am frequently in the international media, donate many artworks to charity and even have a Wiki page. Life is good.
