Graphic Designer

Bachman Brand Development
Milwaukee, WI

B.F.A., Illustration, 2005

I’m a 2005 graduate of the Hartford Art School in Illustration. Over the past few years I’ve built my career through opportunities in freelance illustration, personal artwork and graphic design jobs. In 2009 I learned of a new website called spoonflower.com, which allows you to upload your pattern designs and have them printed on fabric. Textile design was something I was always very interested in so I taught myself how to design and illustrate my own patterns and soon enough I was sending out for fabrics and learning how to sew. I knew then I had found the type of work I was most passionate about. Today, I work full time as a graphic designer for the Milwaukee design firm, Bachman Brand Development, but I am also expanding on my own business that by creating products with my pattern work like stationary, tea towels, pillows and other home goods. I sell at craft fairs, retail stores and through print-on-demand sites like KessInHouse.com. One of my first jobs out of college was working at a stationary shop as a sales associate and now I am selling products with them. For me, designing patterns is something I never get tired of and my mind is almost always full of ideas and inspiration for new designs. I was recently recruited by Appleton, Wisconsin-based Kay James Design that specializes in print pattern designs. We do product pattern and surface design for Kimberly Clark products like Kleenex, Kotex, and Viva paper towels.
