Parking Advisory

With forecast heavy rains for Saturday and the potential for both river and flash flooding, students are asked to avoid parking in low-lying areas of parking lots C, D, E (along the tree line), F (eastern most entrance by the pond), and N-Annex. Cars should now be on higher ground within these lots or in Lot F (by Konover Campus Center). Vehicles should be returned to their assigned parking lots by 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.

B.F.A., Printmaking; minors in Art History and Painting, 2007

After graduating from the Hartford Art School in 2007,  I began teaching in the Fine Arts department at Marianapolis Preparatory School. While teaching, I developed a printmaking and screen printing course and began silk screening onto fabric in my personal practice. Through this, I found an opportunity to merge my love of the printmaking process, color and pattern into textile design. In 2013, I received an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in textiles and moved to New York. Working as a textile designer for Diane Von Furstenberg and Kate Spade New York, my prints were developed and sold on apparel, handbags and accessories for both brands. One of the most exciting parts of print design was learning to use color as a way to create variation across products.  My interest in color led me to my current job at Nike. Today I am living and working in Portland, OR as a color designer on the Nike socks team.

The foundation that the Hartford Art School gave me helped to build and grow my career as a designer.  HAS introduced me to a diverse offering of disciplines through 3D studios, printmaking, illustration, painting and color classes.  Because of this multi-disciplinary education, I built a wide range of skill sets that I have been able to utilize as an artist and designer.  One of the aspects of HAS that I appreciate the most, is the sustaining network of support and encouragement built with both faculty and peers.
