Parking Advisory

With forecast heavy rains for Saturday and the potential for both river and flash flooding, students are asked to avoid parking in low-lying areas of parking lots C, D, E (along the tree line), F (eastern most entrance by the pond), and N-Annex. Cars should now be on higher ground within these lots or in Lot F (by Konover Campus Center). Vehicles should be returned to their assigned parking lots by 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.

Art Educator

Asheville, North Carolina

B.F.A., Painting, minor in Art History and Illustration, 2010

I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Hartford in 2010 and later received my Master of Fine Arts degree from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2014. There I began my largescale watercolors that currently measure up to 44” x 110”. My work focuses on the strength and resilience of nature, using negative space to imply the erasure of landscape by man. My purpose has always been to represent the natural world as powerful and persistent in its survival.

The faculty at Hartford Art School, specifically in the painting department, created a space of experimentation, exploration, and pushed my process and concept.  They also gave me the much-needed knowledge and information I needed to become a successful working artist. Since leaving the University of Hartford I have been included in numerous group shows at institutions like the Mint Museum, Greenville Museum of Art, Duke University and Boston University; as well as solo exhibitions at Wesleyan University, McKinley Arts & Culture Center in Nevada, and Fitton Center for Creative Arts in Ohio. In 2015, I was a grant recipient from the North Carolina Arts and Science Council and over the past few years I have participated in residencies at the Vermont Studio Center, Wild Acres Retreat in North Carolina, and the Wilderness Workshop in Aspen, CO.  Along with continuing my artistic practice, I teach at Gaston College, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and Cornelius Art Center in North Carolina.
