Parking Advisory

With forecast heavy rains for Saturday and the potential for both river and flash flooding, students are asked to avoid parking in low-lying areas of parking lots C, D, E (along the tree line), F (eastern most entrance by the pond), and N-Annex. Cars should now be on higher ground within these lots or in Lot F (by Konover Campus Center). Vehicles should be returned to their assigned parking lots by 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.

B.F.A., Printmaking, 2011

I graduated in 2011 with a BFA in Printmaking. To this day, the print shop at HAS is the most well-equipped, diverse, and welcoming shop I have ever worked in. Having access to the variety of presses and materials, the type collection and, of course, Scot, helped me become the skilled printmaker I am today. In that shop, I served as a teaching assistant for intro and advanced etching classes- sparking my love for teaching and my decision to go to graduate school.

My senior year at HAS, I studied abroad in Cortona, Italy. There, I learned how to make paper and knew immediately I wanted to pursue it along with printmaking. I attended a graduate program with one of the largest papermaking studios in the country, and had the opportunity to teach undergraduate courses in both papermaking and letterpress. In 2016, I received my MFA in Interdisciplinary Book and Paper Arts from Columbia College Chicago.

Today, I teach Printmaking and 2D Design at Pensacola State College- alongside former HAS sculpture technician, Jimmy Rhea. I love sharing my passion for printmaking with students, and still feel the rush of nervous excitement when they pull their first print. After graduating from Hartford, I kept in touch with faculty and staff that had a great influence on me. These human connections, along with the friendships born in my own foundations classes, are what I value most and carry with me from HAS.
