Parking Advisory

With forecast heavy rains for Saturday and the potential for both river and flash flooding, students are asked to avoid parking in low-lying areas of parking lots C, D, E (along the tree line), F (eastern most entrance by the pond), and N-Annex. Cars should now be on higher ground within these lots or in Lot F (by Konover Campus Center). Vehicles should be returned to their assigned parking lots by 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.

B.F.A., Visual Communication Design, 2011

Soon after graduation I was fortunate enough to land a job at Group 4, a packaging design firm in Avon, Connecticut that works in both graphic and industrial design. I started working on large brands in the pharmaceutical, tool and lighting worlds, jumping right into focus groups, branding and production work. Working at Group 4 for three years I learned about clients, printing, production and businesses, large and small.

My next venture was a short stint in letterpress design, at Hartford Prints!. I worked on custom wedding invitations and card/product ideas for the shop.

I then tried my hand at freelancing for a couple months, working at a few agencies around the state learning about the ups and downs of being a freelance designer. It was a wonderful way to connect with new people, and it allowed me to focus on becoming more involved with the Connecticut Art Directors Club, where I am currently Vice President.

In early 2015, I shifted gears one last time to the job I have today, the Art Director and designer of UConn Magazine, the University of Connecticut’s alumni magazine.

The HAS helped me gain the critical thinking that I use daily. Working for an alumni magazine, I am using my visual communication part of my degree a ton. The HAS really emphasized the importance of things not just looking good, but functioning and communicating as it should as well. The balance of creative and thoughtful design is always on my mind.
