Parking Advisory

With forecast heavy rains for Saturday and the potential for both river and flash flooding, students are asked to avoid parking in low-lying areas of parking lots C, D, E (along the tree line), F (eastern most entrance by the pond), and N-Annex. Cars should now be on higher ground within these lots or in Lot F (by Konover Campus Center). Vehicles should be returned to their assigned parking lots by 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.

Artist Liaison

Lehmann Maupin Gallery
New York and Hong Kong

B.F.A., Art History and Printmaking, 2012

Since graduation, I've worked with museums and curators from all over the world—Miami, Los Angeles, The Hague, Beijing, and Seoul—as part of the artist liaison team at Lehmann Maupin contemporary art gallery in New York, N.Y. In addition to our two spaces in New York, we have a gallery in Hong Kong, and it’s been very exciting learning about the international art market.

The most important and fulfilling part of my job is acting as point of contact to a number of gallery artists, offering support in all aspects of their careers and practices. We work closely with the artists when preparing for exhibitions at the gallery and other venues such as museums and institutions.

I graduated from the Hartford Art School in 2012 with a major in printmaking and a subject area major in art history. I felt completely prepared to move to New York and jump into the highly competitive art scene. The art history program taught me to be analytical and critical, armed with a vocabulary that allows me to speak confidently about our artists and program. All of the artists and themes studied throughout my classes have proven extremely relevant to what’s going on in the contemporary art world, I even work with a few artists we studied in class who are now at the gallery. My experience in the printmaking department taught me how to actively participate in productive conversations with artists and how to respectfully operate within a studio space. Both lessons are invaluable to my job and I feel fortunate to have graduated from such a supportive institution that gave me the tools and direction I needed to begin my career.
