Parking Advisory

With forecast heavy rains for Saturday and the potential for both river and flash flooding, students are asked to avoid parking in low-lying areas of parking lots C, D, E (along the tree line), F (eastern most entrance by the pond), and N-Annex. Cars should now be on higher ground within these lots or in Lot F (by Konover Campus Center). Vehicles should be returned to their assigned parking lots by 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.

Mirra Goldfrad is visual artist who focuses on space and place as they relate to the individual, specifically, in how they relate to the idea of home. Her work examines the structures we, as a society, set up, the ones we have in place, the reasons for why we are manifesting them as such, and how they are affecting us. After receiving her BFA in Printmaking from Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford in 2012, Mirra moved to Israel. She worked at Har- El Printing and Publishing in Jaffa for about a year before leaving to do a residency in Venice, Italy at the Venice Printmaking Studio in 2013. Upon completion she moved back to the states where in 2014 she was an Artist in Residence at Guttenberg Arts in Guttenberg, NJ. Currently, Mirra is pursuing her MFA in Printmaking at Syracuse University. Her time at Hartford greatly influenced her, and it was with the incredible support from faculty that she feels she was able to continue her research. It was before leaving Hartford that she was able to be published in “500 Handmade Books,” Vol. 2 juried by Julie Chen, and her professor, Jenni Friedman, that gave her her first grant. Since then she has applied for and received multiple grants including the Creative Opportunity Grant from Syracuse University.
