Parking Advisory

With forecast heavy rains for Saturday and the potential for both river and flash flooding, students are asked to avoid parking in low-lying areas of parking lots C, D, E (along the tree line), F (eastern most entrance by the pond), and N-Annex. Cars should now be on higher ground within these lots or in Lot F (by Konover Campus Center). Vehicles should be returned to their assigned parking lots by 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.

B.A., Art History, 2013

After graduating from University of Hartford with my BA in Art History in May 2013, I moved to Philadelphia to attend Philadelphia University to pursue a Master of Science in Interior Architecture. During the three-year program I was able to learn, grow, and travel. My graduate studies gave me the opportunity to travel and explore NYC, Philadelphia, and Chicago. I also had the opportunity to study abroad. I spent the summer of 2015 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and also did study tours in Sweden and Norway.

My research and projects in graduate school focused on the role of art and architecture in the health and wellbeing of humans. The SEED Project is a proposal that focuses on adolescent behavioral health in Chicago. My graduate thesis titled, Across Traditions, addresses how architecture and design impact faith, spirituality, and interfaith relations. After graduation in May 2016, one of my first professional projects was to begin planning an art program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.

Over the past year, I have interned with Francis Cauffman and CAMA Inc. In October I will return to Francis Cauffman to work as an interior designer in their Philadelphia office. The Hartford Art School was instrumental in teaching me how to work hard, think critically, ask the right questions, and effectively communicate my ideas. As I grow as a designer, I hope to continue to explore the important role of art in architecture, design, and human wellbeing.
