Parking Advisory

With forecast heavy rains for Saturday and the potential for both river and flash flooding, students are asked to avoid parking in low-lying areas of parking lots C, D, E (along the tree line), F (eastern most entrance by the pond), and N-Annex. Cars should now be on higher ground within these lots or in Lot F (by Konover Campus Center). Vehicles should be returned to their assigned parking lots by 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.

B.F.A., Printmaking; Subject Area, Art History, 2013

As a senior at Hartford Art School, my Museum Studies course required students to obtain an internship at a local arts organization. The New Britain Museum of American Art stood out—I saw it a friendly, charming, and reputable institution with a collection comparable to much larger museums. I began at the Museum in January, 2013 as a Curatorial Intern. Upon graduation, I couldn’t seem to part with the NBMAA and, through a series of promotions, landed a full-time position as the Museum’s Copywriter in September, 2015.

Since my beginning at the NBMAA, my experiences at Hartford Art School have continued to impact my work daily. By employing many of the writing skills developed with thanks to the school’s Art History program (more specifically Sherry Buckberrough and Nancy Noble!), I write and/or edit content for exhibitions, programs, and events to be published to our newsletter, our website, press, social media, and more. Also, I represent the Museum for the Connecticut Art Trail in collaborating with other institutions in developing marketing initiatives and coordinating social media campaigns.

Working at an art museum has also provided ample inspiration for me to grow as a visual artist since graduation. By adapting the replicating aspects of printmaking I learned at HAS, works from my repeated line drawing series have been included in juried exhibitions at the Silpe Gallery, Five Points Gallery, NBMAA, and more.
