Parking Advisory

With forecast heavy rains for Saturday and the potential for both river and flash flooding, students are asked to avoid parking in low-lying areas of parking lots C, D, E (along the tree line), F (eastern most entrance by the pond), and N-Annex. Cars should now be on higher ground within these lots or in Lot F (by Konover Campus Center). Vehicles should be returned to their assigned parking lots by 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.

Technical Artist

Tinybop Inc.
Brooklyn, NY

B.F.A., Visual Communication Design, 2013

I currently work at Tinybop Inc. as a technical artist, creating elegant, educational iOS apps for curious kids around the world. I’m in charge of putting together the visual elements that live inside our apps—translating all the artwork into interactive, moving parts; building out scenes; and animating characters and objects. Balancing technical efficiency with aesthetics, I make sure everything runs smoothly between the art/design and the programming/development of our apps. I also touch upon print design, UI/UX, concept and ideation, as well as preproduction prototyping. Currently, I’m illustrating the concept art for our next app.
Previously, I worked for artist/designer Kelli Anderson, assisting in various projects, including a cut paper installation for the New York Public Library, and a cut paper stop motion animation for Tinybop Inc.
In the Visual Communication Design program at the Hartford Art School, we produced pieces that were more than just beautiful compositions. When approaching a project, we were responsible for every aspect of it, from creating original content and copy to testing our projects out with real users. Every decision we made served a purpose and solved a specific design problem. Now, working at a small, fast-paced startup, I know the value of having a breadth of skills. Whether I’m wireframing ideas for a new app idea or working through a user interaction flow, I can easily look at the project from all angles.
