Krista Narciso

MFA Candidate
University of Iowa, IA

B.F.A., Printmaking, minor in Art History, 2015

After graduating from the Hartford Art School I began working in Arts Administration and held various roles at the Mattatuck Museum before becoming Manager of Membership & Outreach at the Northwest Connecticut Arts Council. During this two-year span I also maintained a studio in Torrington, CT, where I worked to grow my studio practice across the media of drawing, printmaking, and book arts.

Now I am an MFA candidate at the University of Iowa, Center for the Book. I received the Iowa Arts Fellowship, the highest fellowship offered by my program, and will complete my MFA in Book Arts with a concentration on Artist Books in 2020.

The professors at the Hartford Art School worked with me to help me find my voice as an artist through critiques and one-on-one discussions and pushed me to develop my work technically and conceptually. The community of faculty, staff, and students at the Hartford Art School is remarkable and incredibly supportive even after graduation.

My current work explores the concepts of memory and time travel through imagery based in nature and can be seen at kristanarciso.com.
