Reviewing Your Portfolio

Reviewing Your Portfolio

We strongly recommend a personal portfolio review and campus visit as part of the decision-making process. An individual review, interview, and tour with an Admission Coordinator at Hartford Art School is offered Monday-Friday, and during University Preview Days and special Hartford Art School events. Contact the Hartford Art School Office of Admission at 860.768.4393 for available dates and appointments.

Portfolios also may be shown to Hartford Art School representatives at National Portfolio Days, sponsored by the National Portfolio Day Association (NPDA), or at regional portfolio days or high school visits. These events are free and open to the public. Please review the calendar below to find Hartford Art School at a portfolio day near you! To read more about the National Portfolio Day Association, visit National Portfolio Day.

Applicants also may submit their portfolio online to SlideRoom.

Your portfolio should contain 10-15 examples of your best work from the last two years. Choose work that shows breadth and depth of your art and highlights your ideas and conceptual abilities, as well as your technical skills, in any media. Show us what you believe are your strengths and interests. Experimentation, risk-taking, and innovation are all the ingredients you need. Mix those together with skill-building, craft, and technique. Put it all together with intention.
