Born in Cyprus, Barbara Johnson (née Christodoulou) began her studies in piano at the age of 6. She received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance from The Hartt School where she studied with Waston Morrison and David Westfall.  

Devoted to the important role of music in society, Ms. Johnson has been an active member in Pi Kappa Lambda, National Music Honor Society, since 1996 and currently serves as President of The Hartt School-based, Epsilon Gamma chapter. In addition to her affiliation with ΠΚΛ, she is a member of the Hartt chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, an international, professional music fraternity for women.

Ms. Johnson has performed numerous recitals in her native Cyprus and the United States and is a member of the Hartford Music Teachers Alliance.

She has served as Hartt Community Division faculty since 1998 and collegiate faculty since 2002.
