Following his Broadway debut as Marcello in Baz Luhrmann’s highly acclaimed production of LA BOHÉME, Mark Womack has continued to garner praise for his commanding vocal and dramatic interpretations. This season Mark was thrilled to perform Billy Bigelow under the direction of Tony Award winner Mark Medoff in CAROUSEL with the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra.   This summer Mark will perform the role of Henry Higgins in Opera North's MY FAIR LADY, followed later in the season by Silvio in I PAGLIACCI at Amarillo Opera and Carl Magnus in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC with Syracuse Opera.  Other highlights of this past season included Mark singing Giorgio Germont in LA TRAVIATA with Knoxville Opera, Marcello in LA BOHÉME with Amarillo Opera, and the Watchman in Opera Saratoga's THE MIGHTY CASEY. On the concert stage Mark performed Carmina Burana with Symphony Kentucky, The Sea Symphony with The New Jersey Choral Society, A Salute to Gilbert and Sullivan with The New Jersey Symphony, and appeared in Opera Birmingham’s Home for the Holidays concert. During the 2010-11 season Mark appeared at Carnegie Hall as baritone soloist in the Fauré and Duruflé Requiems, Sharpless in Knoxville Opera's MADAMA BUTTERFLY, Guglielmo in Skylight Opera Theater’s COSI FAN TUTTE, Marcello in LA BOHÉME with the Amherst Symphony Orchestra, and made a return to Utah Festival Opera for the title role in DON GIOVANNI.  

Engagements in 2009 included Friedrich Bhaer in LITTLE WOMEN with Syracuse Opera, Marcello in LA BOHEME with Chattanooga Symphony and Opera and Escamillo in CARMEN with Utah Festival Opera. In previous seasons Mark has performed Sharpless in MADAMA BUTTERFLY with Sarasota Opera, the title role in DON GIOVANNI with Anchorage Opera, Count Almaviva in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO with Mississippi Opera, Mercutio in ROMÉO ET JULIETTE with Opera North , Lescaut in MANON LESCAUT with Dicapo Opera Theater and Enrico in LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR with Chattanooga Symphony and Opera. In addition, Mark has made appearances with Connecticut Opera, Chautauqua Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, El Paso Opera and Des Moines Metro Opera.

On the concert stage, Mark has appeared at The Rose Theater -Lincoln Center with Teatro Grattacielo in the rarely performed ZAZA and I GIOIELLI DELLA MADONNA, as well as Carnegie Hall in Schubert’s Mass in G, Mozart’s Mass in Cand Arwell Hughes‘ Dewi Sant. Mark has performed major sacred works including Bach's St. John Passion, Mozart's Coronation and Requiem Masses and Britten's Dona Nobis Pacem. In addition to classical repertoire, he has appeared in pops concerts with the Toronto, Seattle, Portland, Edmonton, New Haven and Indianapolis Symphony Orchestras.

Additional theater credits include Edward Rutledge in 1776, Sky Masterson in GUYS AND DOLLS, Captain Von Trapp in THE SOUND OF MUSIC, Curly in OKLAHOMA and Joseph Cable in SOUTH PACIFIC, Macheath in THE THREEPENNY OPERA. Operetta credits include The Pirate King in PIRATES OF PENZANCE, Captain Corcoran in HMS PINAFORE, Grosvenor in PATIENCE, François Villon in THE VAGABOND KING and The Red Shadow in THE DESERT SONG.

Mark attended The University of Tulsa where he received Bachelor and Master degrees in voice and education. He continued his vocal training with doctoral studies at The University of Connecticut followed by post-graduate work at Boston University’s Opera Institute.  Mark maintains a private voice studio in New York City and has been adjunct faculty at the University of Connecticut and the Pomfret School.
