Percussion

Jianpeng FengJianpeng Feng is a very active percussionist. He has performed in Japan, Germany, the United States, and throughout China as a solo, chamber, and orchestral musician. He also has judged national and international competitions and be invited to play recitals at different events. Some professional organizations he has worked with include the Duluth Festival Orchestra, Duluth Opera, China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater, the China Movie Symphony Orchestra, the China Central Traditional Symphony Orchestra, and the Beijing Symphony Orchestra. As a solo percussionist he has won several competitions. Some major achievements include winning the PAS KoSA NYU Marimba Competition (2013), the 3rd Chinese International Percussion (Snare Drum) Competition (2011), and also the 3rd Chinese International Percussion (Marimba) Competition (2011). Since 2012, he has been working with the China Conservatory and the Secondary School Attached to China Conservatory giving master classes, recitals, concerts, and coaching ensembles. He has been working with and introduced Andrew Beall, Tim Broscious, Gene Koshinski, Adam Mason, Ted Piltzecker, Joe Porter, and Benjamin Toth to China. He has also coached traditional Chinese percussion music at the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and The Hartt School. He has given master classes and clinics to China Conservatory, Shenyang Conservatory, Wuhan Conservatory, and University of Lethbridge. In the past year, he found his own percussion ensemble. In addition, he organized 2015 University of Minnesota Duluth International Percussion Summer Camp and worked as director. Recently, he has become the secretary general of Percussion Arts Society Chinese Chapter.
