Fritz Blitz

Violinists: Join us this winter to study the music of violinist and composer Fritz Kreisler.

For violinists in grade 3 through adults

Fritz Blitz Performance: Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. at the University of Hartford's Berkman Recital Hall at the University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Ave., West Hartford, Conn.

There has never been another violinist like Fritz Kreisler. The foremost violinist of the early 1900s, Kreisler developed a warm, tender and personal sound that was uniquely his own. Rather than aiming to impress with acrobatics, his sound pulled irresistibly at the heartstrings. His style is unique and unforgettable, and brings special pleasures to the performing violinist. The widely loved collection of short pieces he wrote for the violin, whether deftly agile or gently nostalgic, are endearing echoes of an earlier time.

Join together with The Hartt School violin professor Katie Lansdale and Hartt College violinists in the marathon-style Fritz Blitz concert featuring the works of Fritz Kreisler on Saturday, January 27, in The Hartt School's Berkman Recital Hall. The concert will feature solo performances by Hartt Collegiate Students, Hartt Community Division students, and by Lansdale, along with pianist Gay Chun.

In preparation for the concert, all registered performers will have two lessons with Lansdale, a rehearsal with Gay Chun, and perform in one of Lansdale's master classes.

Master classes will take place on Friday, December 1, 2017, from 4–6 p.m. or January 19, 2018, from 3:30–5:30 p.m. Lessons and rehearsals are scheduled according to the participants' schedules.

Participants must have their solo piece memorized before the first lesson with Lansdale.

Please contact Professor Lansdale regarding your suggested choice for a solo Kreisler piece.
