COMPOSITION AND THEORY

(Non-monetary benefit.)

Each Honors Composer will be paired up with an HCD performer or ensemble to create a new work that will be premiered in spring. Collaborations are arranged by the Creative Studies Chair. These projects differ each year, and past Honors collaborations have included a work for solo piano to accompany a dance performance, a composition for an HCD student woodwind ensemble, and a piece for the Philharmonia Winds. In addition to receiving a recording of the performed works, the selected composers will receive tuition remission for the Young Composers Project and individual mentoring sessions with our Graduate Composition Fellow. (Participation in YCP is not a requirement for the Composition Honors Program.)
