A Curriculum That Meets Your Needs and Moves You Forward

The First two years of your bachelor's degree

There's never one road to success. Hillyer College offers two distinct tracks of curriculum to serve the needs of our students. Both programs prepare you for your advanced studies and completes most, if not all, of your general education needs. 

Associate in Arts

This track is ideal for students going into business, education, the social sciences (sociology, psychology, political science), and the humanities.


  • 2.0 GPA to graduate
  • Minimum of 60 credits
  • Distribution of credits according to these guidelines 
    • Academic Strategies/Critical Literacies: 3 credits
    • English: 12 credits
    • Math: 3-6 credits (depending on placement)
    • History: 6 credits
    • Lab Science: 4 credits
    • Social Sciences: 6 credits (2 courses in the same area)
    • Humanities: 6 credits
    • Electives: 17-21 credits

Associate in Science

This track is designed for students interested in biology or a career in the health-sciences (pre-med, physical therapy, radiology, etc.). It provides strong foundation in the sciences.


  • 2.0 GPA
  • Minimum of 60 credits
  • Courses in the required distributions, including 
    • Academic Strategies/Critical Literacies: 3 credits
    • English: 9 credits
    • Mathematics: 3 or more credits (through MAB 220, depending on placement)
    • History and Humanities: 9 credits, at least 3 of which must be in history
    • Social Sciences: 6 credits in two different subject areas
    • Lab Sciences: 16 credits
    • Electives: 14 credits
