Summer Bridge Program

Bridging the Gap from High School to College

Summer Bridge is a free program offered during the summer before you start your first year at UHart. It is an opportunity to spend a week on campus and get a feel for what college is like. You can take classes in academic strategies with a focus on either mathematics or writing, and Hillyer faculty will get a headstart on identifying your learning style. You will live in our residence halls and get to know other incoming Hillyer first-year students.

First-year student Shannon Hammer A'19, '21 loved her experience. "Summer Bridge not only gives you a chance to work on a weaker academic area, but you also get a chance to focus on time management, and organizational skills, which are so important in college. I enjoyed the inspirational guest speakers and opportunity to go off campus and experience life in the West Hartford downtown area as well. I highly recommend students to attend this program, because it has so much to offer beyond strictly academics. It truly makes the transition to college life much easier for an incoming first-year student."

2019 Dates: August 11 - 16
