Jewelry designer Kristiana Spaulding has always liked the efficiency of small spaces. That’s why she fashions earrings, bracelets, and necklaces featuring the gently rounded, but streamlined aluminum form of Airstream trailers. Perry Weitz

In 1977, freshman Perry Weitz took Politics & Government in Hillyer College. Filling the media that same fall were stories about the toxic contamination at Love Canal in Upstate New York. His anger and outrage at cancer contracted by innocent people by a chemical company led Weitz to pursue a career in law.   Meet Perry Weitz

Chelsie Carswell

Imagine having a job where getting free-spirited hugs – that you’re very happy to receive – is part of the day-to-day routine. The recipient of the hugs is Chelsie Carswell, who teaches fourth grade in an inner-city elementary school in Hartford, Connecticut. Carswell received Hillyer’s Outstanding Young Alumnus Award two years ago.

Jay E. Weissbluth, M.D.

If you like the specific combination of problem solving, being your own boss, and taking care of people, becoming a doctor is not bad way to go. For Jay Weissbluth,’76, who has an extensive and successful practice as a gastroenterologist in Brooklyn, becoming a doctor was a very good way to go.

Jason Cohen

Cohen, who graduated from Hillyer in 1980 and from the University's Barney School of Business in 1983, helps large Japanese corporations, which have North American operations, find property and casualty insurance coverage.  Meet Jason Cohen

Keith Paris

Paris, who graduated from Hillyer College and then continued at the University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business, helps his corporate clients set up financial retirement programs for their employees. Laura Mance

Being confident is important to Laura Mance, who graduated from Hillyer College in 1975 and who now manages 500 real estate agents in eight different branches in the Southern Arizona offices of Coldwell Banker.  Meet Laura Mance

Francisco Flores

Francisco Flores, who would eventually become the president of El Salvador, came to Hillyer College in the late 70’s at a time of great conflict and trouble in his native country.

James Purnell III

O. James Purnell III, who graduated from Hillyer in 1969, is a probate judge in Ellington, Connecticut, where, on a daily basis, he negotiates sensitive issues that affect children, the elderly, and the mentally retarded or mentally ill.

Tom Del Zoppo

Tom Del Zoppo has logged a lot of miles since he graduated from Hillyer in 1986. Del Zoppo is currently managing director for the Hong Kong office of HSBC, one of the largest banks in the world.
