First-Year Experience
First-year students usually have many questions about college life in general and about course work in particular. While all of your instructors will be available to answer your questions about course work in the classroom and during office hours, one of your first classes will be designated as an “advising section.” This means that the instructor will be the academic advisor of each student in that class, so you will have regular opportunities for interacting with your advisor. Your advisor will help you get answers to your questions about the College or University, provide you with up-to-the-minute information about academic and social events, discuss your academic progress and plans for the future, and help you effect a successful transition to College and University life.
