The International Center sponsors a number of programs and events throughout the year for our university community. Many of these are free or at a reduced cost and offer you an opportunity to meet new people, learn new things, and have some fun!

The International Student Orientation Program for newly arrived International Students. Konover Campus Center, 10:00am to 2:00pm.
Please bring your passport and immigration documents. All new international students are required to attend.
8:30-4:00p.m. New International Student Check-in and SEVIS Certification, Gengras Student Union, room 327.
All new International Students must present their passport, I-94 form and I-20 form to the International Center. We will certify your attendance at the University with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service.
All international students and exchange visitors are required to file U.S. income tax returns with the federal government by April 2017 for the year 2016 if you were present in the U.S. during that year.
The International Center has purchased a software program that will help you process your return in a easy, timely, and accurate manner. The software will be available at the center on or about February 10.
Please remember that income tax software products, such a Turbo Tax or TaxAct, do not calculate income tax returns for international students or exchange visitors on F and J visas.
Are you graduating in May or summer 2017? The International Center will hold an Optional Practical Training (OPT) Workshop on Thursday, February 16h for those students who will be graduating in May or summer 2017.
During the workshop, you will receive all the necessary forms as well as complete instructions on how to apply and when. This will also be a great opportunity to ask questions regarding employment in the U.S. on OPT, the STEM program and the H-1B Visa process.

Come and spend the day in the sun and snow at Ski Sundown. Join with International Center staff and your friends for a fun day of skiing and snowboarding. You don't have to be an expert to have some fun. First-timers can have a ball!
Sign up in advance for this fun time at the International Center no later than Wednesday, February 8th. The International Center will provide free transportation and donate $20 toward the cost of your ski package.

Join the International Center as we celebrate our 8th Annual International Week at the university of Hartford.
Attend an international cooking class or and stop by the Photo Booth at the Study Abroad Fair. Practice your Latin dancing and learn how to dance modern Bollywood style. Join the fun at our Global Village; get your hand painted in henna, step inside a Bedouin tent, and learn about international clubs on campus.
Finish off the week by joining us for our 32nd annual International Festival, featuring great performances (The Soh Daiko Taiko Drum Ensemble and Inca Son), food and music from around the world!
Pick up your “International Passport” from the International Center, GSU 327, and collect a stamp from each event you attend during International Week. If you receive a stamp from 4 or more events*, bring your “Passport” to the International Festival for FREE ADMISSION
Thanatourism, or dark tourism, looks at sites of mass death and tragedy as tourist attractions. This lecture will examine the attraction of these events, in particular from the standpoint of practicing nationalism.

Presented by the Connecticut Council for Inter-religious Understanding, a moderator-led panel will anwser questions posed by the audience through a discussion of the tenets of Islam.

The University of Hartford strives to provide an experience that supports the overall growth and development of all members of the campus community. Helping Hawks has proven to be a lasting experience that connects each person involved to learning and service outside of the classroom.
This year we are working with several non-profit organizations that have developed worthwhile community service activities for participating students, faculty, and staff..
All volunteers are provided transportation and are scheduled to arrive at their designated service project sites between 11:30 a.m. and 12 noon. Volunteers will be picked up from each of their site locations and returned to campus between 3 p.m. and 3:30 pm. On campus, each participant will have the opportunity to enjoy a free BBQ and potentially win an awesome prize.
Join International Center staff for an afternoon of bowling for our international students. This event is FREE and includes transportation, pizza, soda, bowling shoes, and 2 free games.
Please sign up for the bowling event at the International Center by Tuesday, April 25. Please meet at the Konover Campus Center 11:45am. The bus will depart at 12:00 noon and return around 4:00.
Join International staff for our end of the semester Pizza Social. It's a fun chance to meet to gather with friends and meet other international students. There will be FREE pizza, chips and soda.
