In the second of a two-part interview with David Pines, associate professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the University of Hartford's College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture, Pines discusses the University's involvement in community economic development projects in India and Kenya.
Pines talks about the concept of "thinking big and starting small" in such projects and about the importance of community involvement in the development process; and the logistical obstacles in bringing people and materials to work sites. He also highlights an upcoming trip to Germany by students and himself to research alternative energy practices.
