The Women’s Education and Leadership Fund (WELFund), a legacy of Hartford College for Women (HCW) at the University of Hartford is the beneficiary of more than $55,000 from The Business and Professional Women's Club of Hartford.
The Business and Professional Women’s Club of Hartford dissolved its chapter and wanted to find an organization that would continue its mission with its remaining funds. The club had provided scholarships for non-traditional age women students at the Hartford College for Women and determined it would be a natural fit for use of the remaining funds.
Jennifer Sanborn, director of the WELFund says “We are in the planning stages of creating an undergraduate leadership experience for women students. This gift from The Business and Professional Women’s Club of Hartford comes at an exciting time and will go a long way toward making our plans a reality.”
WELFund was established in 2006 to empower women to learn and lead. It offers grants, scholarships, leadership development programs and opportunities for timely and topical conversations.
