The University of Hartford is home to students from more than 60 countries around the globe and the University’s International Center is hosting a week-long series of events from Monday, March 26, through Saturday, March 31, to help showcase the cultural diversity that exists on campus.
The activities offered will range from a global village featuring artwork, crafts, and food, to salsa dancing lessons by a trained professional. The events promise to transport you to another world. In addition to all the activities, ARAMARK, the University’s food service vendor, will offer a “Taste of the World”
in the Commons and Gengras Student Union cafeterias each day of International Week, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Activities to be offered will include:
Tuesday, March 27, Global Village,
GSU Suisman Lounge, 12 to 2 p.m. — Take a walk through our Global Village and enjoy viewing artwork by our students who studied abroad, shop for crafts from around the world, and apply for your US Passport.
Wednesday, March 28: International Photo Competition,
GSU Suisman Lounge, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Thursday, March 29: Study Abroad Fair,
GSU, Suisman Lounge, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Learn about opportunities to study abroad in more than 80 countries.
Friday, March 30: Salsa Lesson,
Konover Great Room, 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. — An experienced salsa instructor will lead participants through the steps that make this dance a world favorite.
Saturday, March 31: International Festival,
GSU cafeteria, 5 to 9 p.m. — Join us for the International Center's biggest event of the year, its 27th annual International Festival! Celebrate an evening of cultural diversity! The price is $5 for students and $12 for non-students.
Sample the many events that celebrate the crafts, food, music and more from dozens of countries throughout the week, sponsored by the University of Hartford’s International Center in collaboration with Aramark, the Hartford Art School, Office of the Provost, and the English Language Institute. Many different countries will be represented to showcase the International Center. Students will be able to find out about travelling to different countries to study abroad or for pleasure.
