A blizzard warning goes into effect for our area this evening and Connecticut has issued a statewide travel ban starting at 9 p.m. The University is now closed as of 3 p.m. today and will be closed all day tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 27.  Day and evening classes are canceled through tomorrow. An updated advisory on the status of classes and operations for Wednesday will be posted Tuesday evening. During the time that the University is closed, the Commons, Subway, and Village Market will maintain regular hours for residential dining services and the Sports Center will be open for use by residential students only. UHart Celebrates the Start of the Basketball Season with “Breakfast and Basketball”

University of Hartford sports fans will be getting up early tomorrow, Nov. 12, to cheer on the men’s basketball team as it takes on Florida Gulf Coast University at 7 a.m. The game, which will air on ESPN2, will be shown on two large screens in the Commons Dining Hall. There will be a special, expanded breakfast menu and students will be competing in a Hawk Spirit Contest.

All members of the University community and the general public are invited. Students will be charged a meal swipe, faculty and staff pay $5, and alumni and the general public pay $6.99. Doors open at 6:30 a.m.

The game is part of ESPN’s 24-hour Tip-Off Marathon, the network’s annual kickoff of the college basketball season. This is the first time that the University of Hartford has been part of the high-profile Tip-Off Marathon.
