3:00 PM | PowerPoint Circle: Using Clickers - On Friday at 3:00, join guest lecturer Steve Schneider, professor of Astronomy at the UMass, as he shares his insights, experiences, as well as his successes and failures using PowerPoint and clickers in the classroom. His presentation will cover how polling devices like clickers can provide immediate student feedback to instructors and increase student participation in the classroom. The audience will participate with the clicker system used at UMass and will take part in a variety of techniques that go beyond the basic "multiple choice" approach. Light refreshments served. |

2:00 PM | The van Rooy Competition for Musical Excellence - The van Rooy Competition for Musical Excellence, now in its tenth year, has become a defining tradition of The Hartt School.Hartt undergraduate instrumental performance majors compete for a top prize of $10,000. The competition is underwritten by longtime Hartt supporters Jean-Pierre and Marie-Claire van Rooy of Farmington, Connecticut. After the performances, a dessert reception will be offered, followed by the announcement of the winners. |

4:15 PM | Body Usage and Ergonomics for Musicians - Body Usage and Ergonomics for Musicians: Increasing Performance Quality while Decreasing Injury. By working with, instead of against, your body, you can improve your technique while decreasing your chance of injury. This three-class series will help you increase your awareness of how you use your body while playing, and assist you in deciphering what works and what doesn't.
