Hawk Hall

A Residential Learning Community

Hawk Hall is organized around themed communities in which students cohabitate with other students who have similar interests or are taking course(s) together. These students collaborate closely with their fellow students, faculty, and staff. They have a unique opportunity to become leaders through required participation in the activities and projects of their Residential Learning Community (RLC).

Hawk Hall is organized around eight themed communities or RLCs that do programs and events centered around their respective themes.

Below are Hawk Hall's eight themed-community options:

  • STEM-C: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Community
  • Wellness: Healthy lifestyle options that can benefit mind, body, and soul
  • Emerging Leaders: Develop leadership skills and join the University's Freshman Leadership Development program
  • Community Service: Making a difference in the lives of others
  • Global Engagement: Exploration and celebration of various cultures within the USA and other countries
  • Creative Arts Expressions: Gain an understanding and appreciation for each other’s unique artistic perspectives
  • Honors: Making a difference in the world (Students must be recipients of President's, Regents, or National Honor academic scholarships.)
  • Hawk Spirit: Encouraging University spirit by organizing and motivating others

The mission of Hawk Hall is to build an inclusive community that embraces diversity and creates self-awareness among residents. Through a transformative learning experience built out of the Residential Learning Communities, residents will gain an understanding of what it means to be a member of the University of Hartford community.

In order to reach these goals the Hawk Hall Community will strive to consistently:

  • Establish and foster a supportive environment
  • Encourage community involvement through a variety of programs
  • Promote inclusivity across the campus community
  • Construct and maintain an enthusiastic living environment
