The University is operating on a normal schedule. The Arts and Sciences Admission event is taking place as scheduled.

Room Access

All students residing in Hawk Hall, A–F Complex, Park River, or Regents will use their University of Hartford student ID card to obtain access to the exterior door of their assigned residence hall.  

In addition, at check-in, all residential students will receive one or two keys, depending on their housing assignment, to access their suite floor, apartment, and/or bedroom doors.  

Locked Out?

If you are locked out of your room:

  • Come to the Office of Residential Life during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  From 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. you can call 860.930.9306. After 7:30 p.m. contact your RA on duty. 
  • You will be asked to provide your student ID or an alternate form of identification. 
  • Your room assignment will be verified.
  • You may incur a lock-out charge. Below is the schedule of charges. The charges apply for the full academic year.

Second Lock Out     No Charge
Third Lock Out $10.00
Fourth Lock Out $15.00
Fifth Lock Out $20.00

Lost Keys?

What to do if you've lost your key(s):

  • Come to the Office of Residential Life between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • You will be asked to provide your student ID or an alternate form of identification. 
  • You will have 72 hours after you complete the Lost Key Form to continue looking for your lost key(s).  
  • Your room assignment will be verified prior to issuing a temporary key(s). Keys can not be issued to friends or relatives.
  • Call Public Safety at 860.768.7985 to ask if your key(s) have been turned in before you request a lock change.
  • The cost of a lock change is always the responsibility of the resident and it applies whether your key(s) are lost or stolen.
  • Temporary keys are to be returned when new keys are issued.
  • If you do not return the temporary key within the designated time period, the Office of Residential Life will proceed to change the lock. The charge for the lock change will be billed to your student account.
Per occurrence in the Complexes $120
Per occurrence in the Apartments $150
Emergency lock change on weekends $180-$240

Duplication and Possession of Key(s)

The duplication of any University key is strictly prohibited. The key(s) assigned to an authorized student is expected to remain in the possession of the assigned student at all times.
