The Center for Community Service

Our Mission:

The Center for Community Service serves as a resource for students, faculty and staff in providing opportunities for civic engagement, volunteerism, and service learning with agencies throughout the Greater Hartford area.

We hope to increase the level of volunteer service provided by our students, faculty, staff, and alumni by:

  • working closely with our off-campus neighbors and agencies to identify community needs.
  • maintaining an active database of agencies seeking volunteers by publicizing volunteer-service opportunities and connecting volunteers with these experiences.
  • assisting clubs and organizations with their philanthropic efforts, by researching community and agency needs and securing relevant and meaningful service-learning experiences that will strongly relate to the students' course work.
  • providing printed resources on the field of service learning, by serving as the University's liaison with local off-campus agencies, and meeting with classes and academic departments to discuss service-learning opportunities.
