Public Safety

At the University of Hartford, safety is a top priority. The Department of Public Safety's mission is to provide the University community with a safe and secure environment, in which everyone can learn, live, work, and grow. The department accomplishes its mission by partnering and collaborating with the community, providing service in a professional manner, and showing dignity and respect to all individuals.

The Department of Public Safety is in full operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Full-time staff consists of the director, associate director, lieutenants, quartermaster, records manager, crime prevention officer, investigators, sergeants, officers, dispatchers and support staff. 

The Public Safety Headquarters is located on the northeast side of campus by parking lot E, across from the Village Market in the Konover Campus Center in campus parking lot F, and Lincoln Theatre.

Health Fair

Mental and physical health are key to creating a happy and inviting campus environment for students, faculty, and staff. 

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS):
CAPS provides a range of short-term counseling and psychological services to the University community. Services are available to full-time undergraduate students at no additional cost. Part-time and graduate students may utilize CAPS services for a nominal fee. CAPS is open from Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. For an appointment, please call 860.768.4482 or stop by our office in the Gengras Student Union (GSU), room 313. CAPS is closed during certain school holidays and during the summer.

Health Services: 
The University of Hartford's Department of Health Services is committed to providing students with quality healthcare. It is a patient-focused, physician-owned-and-directed medical group. It continues to improve the value of its services through innovation and effective care management. 

Connections Health Education and Wellness Center: 
Located on the lower level of University Commons in Room 118, the Connections Health Education and Wellness Center offers comprehensive health promotion services for the University of Hartford campus community through a holistic living and learning atmosphere. The four major areas of focus are alcohol and drug education and prevention, violence prevention, general health, and women's health and wellness.
