The primary purpose of the Hartford Scholars Program is to provide permanent residents of the City of Hartford The opportunity to attend the University of Hartford who, financially, may not otherwise have that opportunity by offering a reduced tuition and reduced student services fees rate. The amount of the award offered to eligible students for the fall and spring terms only, is equal to one-half of the annual full-time undergraduate tuition and the required student services fees assessed all students. To be considered for this program a candidate must:
- Be a citizen of the United States or eligible non-citizen on or before the first day of classes of the student’s junior year in high school;
- Be a permanent resident of the City of Hartford during the junior and senior years of high school;
- Be a 1990 (or after, until program is withdrawn) graduate of a City of Hartford public high school, A.I. Prince Vocational-Technical School, or a suburban Hartford school as part of Open Choice;
- Apply for admission and be accepted to the University as a matriculated student in the year of the student’s high school graduation;
- Be admitted without conditions as a degree-seeking student in an undergraduate program of study at the University (either an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree program);
- Submit the Application for Admission by March 15th of the senior year of high school, be formally accepted to the University by April 15th, and submit the required admission acceptance forms (including the admission deposit form) by May 1st; and
- Enroll as a full-time undergraduate student during the fall term immediately following the student’s from high school.
