PROGRAM: fam1099.pc PROBLEM (CR-000152883): Update FAM1099 to meet new guidelines for IRS electronic filing of 1099-MISC using a separate Payer batch (Payer A Record header, Payee B Records, and Payer C Record totals) that contains only payees with Non-Employee Compensation (NEC, Box 7 on Form 1099-MISC). Payees with no NEC income for 1099-MISC should be contained in a different Payer batch for IRS electronic filing when submitted to the IRS at the same time and in the same file as payees having NEC income. IMPACT (CR-000152883): User was not able to create different batch for Non-Employment Compensation and non-NEC for miscellaneous report. RESOLUTION (CR-000152883): Modified the 1099-MISC electronic file structure produced by FAM1099 to use the separate batch structure recommended by the IRS for NEC late filing after 1/31/ 2018 that avoids proposed penalty notices for tax year 2017 being applied unnecessarily to payees with no NEC income. The new batch structure produced by FAM1099 segregates NEC payees as the first 1099-MISC payment batch and can be adopted at any time for the 2017 tax year, and also establishes the same IRS approved NEC filing structure in advance that will be required for tax year 2018. This enhancement is not required for tax year 2017 if you file your 1099's with the IRS in January which is the required filing date for 1099's with NEC income. If you have no NEC filings then this enhancement will not be needed, or if you file NEC 1099's on time by 1/31/18 then this enhancement will not be needed for tax year 2017.
